Fort Smith Public Schools is proud to recognize Suzanne Gosch, speech pathologist at Barling Elementary, as the Classified Employee of the Year. Mrs. Gosch is known for her dedication, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond for students and staff. She collaborates with teachers to support all students—not just those in speech therapy—demonstrating a deep commitment to student success.

Mrs. Gosch is an integral part of the school community, actively participating in daily routines such as Rise and Shine and even volunteering for lunch duty. Her presence in the school extends beyond her therapy room, as she builds meaningful relationships with students and colleagues alike. A fellow educator remarked, "I've worked with many speech pathologists throughout the years, but Mrs. Gosch does more than provide therapy—she truly invests in our school and students."

Beyond her direct work with students, Mrs. Gosch provides invaluable support to teachers and staff. She assists with behavior interventions, mentors new special education teachers, and ensures that parents and district staff receive clear, helpful communication during meetings. Always striving for improvement, she recently enhanced her therapy room’s social contract by implementing a student-led behavior rating system.
